Is a Disney Dining Plan right for my family?

While planning a Disney World vacation, many people ask whether or not they should add a Disney Dining Plan to their travel package. Disney offers 3 types of dining plans, designed to fit the needs of families needs and interests. Dining plans are offered to onsite guests only – just another reason of many to stay at one of the amazing onsite Disney World resorts!

Depending on the type and length of your trip, one of these dining plans may work well for your family. Your Practically Perfect travel planner can help you decide if a dining plan is right for your family.

If used properly you can save a lot of money on your vacation. Each plan includes a variety of table and or quick service credits, and snacks.

Table service credits are accepted at almost any sit down restaurant or buffet onsite and includes character dining. You can order any Entrée, desert, and alcoholic beverage (for those 21+). A Quick Service meal can be compared to the fast food concept but with much better quality! Once again it is an Entrée, dessert, and alcoholic Beverage. Your snacks can be a number of different single served item ranging under $4.00, things from Mickey Ice Cream Bars, to Starbucks Coffees, to Dole Whips! One reason I personally like the dining plan is I never have to look at prices. I can order a steak if I want to and not have to worry that it might be a $45 item! You do have to pay gratuities on the table service meals.

How Disney Dining Plans Work:

When booking your vacation, purchase one of the Magic Your Way Vacation Packages that includes a Disney dining plan. Choose from over 100 restaurants.  We will make your reservations prior to your trip aligned with which park you are expecting to be at, based on predicted park crowd levels.

  • Use your Magic Band to pay for your meal. It will electronically monitor your party¹s allocated meals.
  • Track your meals with the easy-to-read receipt your server will provide you, which displays your remaining meal balance.
  • Redeem your meals in any order throughout your vacation until each person¹s meal total is complete.
  • Gratuities are not included unless otherwise indicated. An automatic 18% gratuity charge will be added to your bill for parties of 6 or more.
  • Merchandise or photo-imaging products that may be offered at Character Dining Experiences are not included, except at Cinderella¹s Royal Table.
  • You will see this logo everywhere that accepts the various dining plans.
