20 Aug There’s Still Magic in the Air!
Entertainment continues in the parks and one of our favorite new surprises during the reopening phase.
As we all know, some experiences that we love have been suspended due to health and safety measures being put in place. Many worried that it wouldn’t “feel like Disney”. After hearing from our guests and agents that have traveled, we know the MAGIC IS ALIVE!
It all starts the moment you arrive with cast members greeting you with big smiles to welcome you back. At each park, the music, the smells, the sights are all still there giving you all the feels. Your favorite rides are running (with socially distanced lines of course) and many of them can ride over and over again because of low crowd levels.
Disney has found creative ways to bring favorite performers back as well.
MAGIC KINGDOM—Main Street Philharmonic entertains throughout the day with your favorite Disney songs down Main Street U.S.A.
EPCOT–The JAMMitors and Marimba de las Americas are performing multiple times a day at the America Gardens Theatre in Epcot.
HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS–Disney Society Orchestra performs Disney tunes and brings some of your special Disney friends to say hello at the Theater of the Stars on Sunset Blvd.
ANIMAL KINGDOM—Discovery Island Drummers have taken their performance to the water, playing their music live while sailing around the Discovery River. Don’t be surprised when you look to the skies to see free-flying macaws overhead or take a seat at the Caravan Stage in Asia for a behind-the-scenes look at how these majestic birds are trained and cared for.
When the park opening was first announced and we learned character meets would be put on hold, we all had that feeling of “what is Disney without characters?”. The way Disney has kept the character magic alive is quite possibly one of our favorite new additions to the parks……Character Cavalcades. Think of these like “pop-up parades”. Multiple times each day many of our beloved characters make their way around the parks. The music starts to signal that a special friend might be riding through on a float or horse, in a promenade around World Showcase, floating through Animal Kingdom or parading in cars down Hollywood Blvd. bringing lots of smiles to Disney guests.
It’s also not unusual to be walking around areas of the park to find characters hanging out, waving hi and taking socially distanced selfies. We especially love it when we see Pooh catching butterflies and Joy frolicking in the open grassy areas of Epcot. These types of interactions give the feel of the characters living within the parks and we are just visiting their homes. That’s magic!
The magic is here. It’s alive! It may be a little different but it is still very much DISNEY MAGIC!
