TWO OF THE MONORAIL RESORTS ARE GETTING SOME UPDATES CREATING REIMAGINED ROOMS AND WAYS TO GET TO MAGIC KINGDOM
Our PPV Inc. team loves the convenience of staying at a monorail resort. These resorts put you right in the heart of Walt Disney World with spectacular views of Magic Kingdom. There are three resorts that sit on the monorail: Disney’s Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Villas, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and & Spa.
Two of these resorts are getting some updates and I had the chance to check out the progress this morning. At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa they are finishing up the walkway to Magic Kingdom. This walkway will allow the guests an additional way of getting to the magic and let me tell you, it’s been something we have wanted for a long time! The portion close to resort leading up to Magic Kingdom is ready to go! In addition to the paths there are two bridges over the canals. One is actually a swing bridge (pictured below) to allow water taxis and the nightly pageant parade through. Once the boat dock renovation is completed on the Magic Kingdom end, they will be able to complete the walkway and welcome guests. This could potentially happen this month!
Across the Seven Seas Lagoon at Disney’s Polynesian Resort two big renovations have begun. The resort is being reimagined to include more of one of our favorite Disney characters, Moana. The rooms will be refurbished and themed accordingly while the main lobby, the Great Ceremonial House will also receive updates. Some scaffolding is up around one of the buildings for the room renovations. The Great Ceremonial House has not started any construction inside yet. But the outside is in full swing! The entrance to the Great Ceremonial House is not open at this time and the entrance is frosted out to avoid seeing the construction. The monorail does not make a stop at Polynesian resort due to the outside construction. You are able to take a water taxi to Magic Kingdom from here. If there is inclement weather, buses will also run. This reimagining is one we are so excited to see! It is slated to be completed this summer!
