There is a particular kind of family that begins watching the calendar in May — the families whose teenagers have officially “aged out” of trick-or-treating but are nowhere near ready to give up Halloween. For those families, Universal Orlando Resort has news worth circling.

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 — the event’s milestone 35th year — will take place on 48 select nights at Universal Studios Florida from August 28 through November 1, 2026.

What Makes This One Different

Halloween Horror Nights is not Disney’s gentle, family-friendly Halloween experience — and that is precisely the point. It is an after-hours separately ticketed event built for older teens (the recommended minimum age is 13) and adults who love story-driven horror, theatrical scare zones, original haunted houses, and live entertainment. The atmosphere is immersive, intentionally intense, and unlike anything else in Orlando each fall.

Event hours are 6:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., which gives families an unusually long window to enjoy the experience. Single-night ticket prices begin at $88, with multi-night and express options available for those who want to see every haunted house without the longest waits.

Who It Is — and Isn’t — For

We always recommend Halloween Horror Nights with intention. It is a wonderful tradition for families with mature teens and adult children who want something truly grown-up and atmospheric. It is not the right fit for younger children — and that is okay. For families with little ones, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World® remains the practically perfect choice (and we covered that one in last week’s blog).

Our Practically Perfect Tip

Halloween Horror Nights tickets become significantly more flexible — and often more affordable — when paired with a multi-day Universal Orlando vacation package. Staying on-site at a Universal Orlando Resort hotel can unlock additional perks, including early access to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and complimentary transportation. If your family has been waiting for the year your teens were finally ready, this may be the season. Reach out to your Practically Perfect Guide and we will quietly handle the planning, pricing, and pacing — so the only surprises are the ones you signed up for.
